R: Dungeon Crawlers Radio is a team made up of four on air personalities that really enjoy bringing the world of geek to your door. Revan is the founder and creator of DCR. His goal every week is not only to deliver a spectacular show but to bring the guest and the fans together outside of conventions. As A Guy Named Joe burns up the mic with geek passion from the moment the on-air sign lights up in the studio till everyone signs off. He delivers such excitement during the show that we counter balance him with Flagoon. Flagoon is the comic relief that keeps the fans laughing throughout the show with his strategically witty remarks. However, don't be too fooled by Flagoon he is also quick to play devils advocate just to see what happens. As we wind down the show we wrap everything into a nice little package with Firebird. She brings the female perspective of geek nation to the show with such intensity it's hard not to listen in just to see what's going on. MT: Was this your first Gen Con? R: Yes this was our first year at Gen Con and I have to say it was a little daunting. We have some Con’s back home but nothing that compares to this. But it was a great experience and we really got the name of our show out there Yes, Gen Con 2012 was the largest convention that Dungeon Crawlers Radio has attended. MT: How was your Gen Con experience? R: Like I said it was a little daunting but overall it was a great experience for us. It allowed us to see people face to face that we’ve had on the show in the past and it was such a great and friendly atmosphere. But I have to say when those does first opened up and we walked in…It was like walking into geek heaven! The experience of Gen Con for Dungeon Crawlers Radio was very positive. It allowed us to connect with the fans and guests that have been on the show. If we had to describe one memorable moment from Gen Con, it would be when the front doors first opened up and we walked in...it was like walking into geek heaven. MT: What type of gamer will be interested in your podcast? R: We believe that gamers are more than just a close-knit community or a sub-culture. Everyone is a geek at heart to some degree. We all have a childlike vice that we engage in be it football, table-top RPGs, music or movies. Everyone geeks out at something and we found that the common thread between demographics is that not everyone uses the same term for it. There's still a stigma attached to the word. Part of our mission is to bring all types of nerds, geeks, and dweebs together in a positive way. When we introduce ourselves we often find ourselves saying, "If you own at least one piece of merchandise from Star Wars, then we're the show for you." Even if table-top games and fantasy authors aren't up someone's alley, chances are we have something that is. Maybe they like table top, video games, MMOs (massively multiplayer online), or RPG (role playing games) we cover it all. However, we chose RPG's as our "bread and butter" because we firmly believe that it's one of the few things that legitimately still brings people together face to face and have a good time. Who can't get behind that? MT: What was your favorite aspect of Gen Con? R: It's not easy picking just one part out of a convention to be your favorite since they all work together in harmony to put on a spectacular show. However, if we were to choose we’d have to say the people. It's what makes large conventions possible. Getting to meet people who develop and design the products you love, it's every geeks dream. Wizards of the Coast helped to make that dream come true for thousands of fans. They were especially wonderful to meet and work with during our stay at Gen Con. MT: What did you think of the D&D Next playtest? What surprised you about it? R: A Guy Named Joe found it very accessible and easy to learn as he used the two previous editions as a comparison. He found that Next was a very fast and intense game to play as he clearly remembers having to go over some notes because he thought he had missed something. With a little more polish and a few bugs worked out it should easily be a fast seller. D&D Next gets the "A Guy Named Joe-stamp of approval." MT: Where can fans find you next? Going to any other cons this year? R: This year we finished the convention circuit with Gen Con and we will be looking forward to the start of 2013. You can follow us through 2013 by visiting us at www.dungeoncrawlersradio.com and other media outlets. MT: Where can we find out more about your company online? R: You can find us at www.DungeonCrawlersRadio.com, or on facebook, twitter, Youtube, Google+, and you can download our archived shows from iTunes. MT: Any other information you'd like to provide?
